CloudCenter 4.8 has reached End of Life (EOL) as of November 14, 2018. See End of Support Notices for additional context.

Tenant Billing

Administrators can enable monthly billing for deployments and hourly billing based on instance types.

Billing PlanDescription
Monthly Billing Plan
  • For service providers who want to provide a discounted rate for running jobs in their managed cloud environment.
  • The amount is charged for the user regardless of number of hours the deployment ran for (for example, if the deployment ran for 20 hours a month, it will still be charged for the whole month).
  • Cloud cost is already included in the monthly billing when the job is run the first time.
  • Administrators must understand the pros and cons of monthly billing option before enabling this service for users.
Hourly Billing Plan
  • If the deployment runs for 20 hours a month, users are charged only for 20 hours.
  • Stopping and restarting deployments does increase cloud cost.
  • The billing invoice contains additional infrastructure details.

New cloud cost and storage costs take effect immediately and apply to running deployments as well. The changes in rate and duration for which the rates were applied can be generated in a report.

User Billing Options

To enable billing for the first time, the admin must follow this procedure:

  1. Login to the CCM UI and click Admin > Sub Tenants.
  2. Click the required tenant to edit the billing details for this tenant.

  3. In the User Billing section, check the required check boxes.

Granular Billing Control

Cisco provides granular billing control by allowing administrators to decide if they would like to bill users by selecting one of three prices when using an instance type.

  • Default Price: Based on the cloud provider cost, charged on an hourly basis:
    • When configuring cloud accounts, the cloud account owner can enter the custom pricing information that the tenant organization may have obtained from a cloud provider.
    • The cloud account owner is directly responsible for the cloud costs and is billed by the cloud provider directly.
    • The price is charged on an hourly basis.
  • Custom Price: Overrides all charges and cost by providing a custom price, charged on an hourly basis:
    • The owner of a cloud account can see all costs incurred by the use of that account, including the usage by the owner and any user or tenant with whom the cloud owner shares that account.

    • The price is charged on an hourly basis.
    • Enable VM metering and payment by calendar month: Check this option if you are allowing payments to be made on a monthly basis.
  • Monthly Price (default): One price for all services for this instance type:
    • The owner of a cloud account can see all costs incurred by the use of that account, including the usage by the owner and any user or tenant with whom the cloud owner shares that account.

    • The price is charged on a monthly basis.
    • VM-hour Multiplier for VM-hour Based Usage Plan: Check this option if you are providing an additional per-hour, per-VM cost for the VM-hour plan.

These three options are visible in the Update Instance Type Price popup:

To update the instance type price, follow this procedure.

  1. Access the CCM UI, and click Admin > Clouds.
  2. Click Configure Cloud for the required cloud where you use this instance type.
  3. Click Manage Instance Types for the required cloud account. The Cloud Instance Types popup displays
  4. Click Edit for the required instance type. The Update Instance Type Price popup displays.
  5. Select one of the three prices for this instance type (Default, Custom, or Monthly) and assign the decided price.
  6. Click Save.

Pass Cloud Cost to Parent Organization

The tenant administrator for a cloud account can choose to have users or tenants (with whom the cloud account is shared) billed for their respective cloud costs or pass on those costs to the parent organization.

When configuring a plan, the administrator can specify that all cloud costs must be sent to the administrator by checking the Bill me for my users cloud usage check box. This selection specifies that all cloud costs for users be billed to admin. See Financial Overview > Common Options for All Subscription Types > Plan Fees for additional context.
