Model Application Using a Custom VM Image

To onboard an application using a custom image, follow this process:

  1. In the App Profiles tab, select the N-Tier Execution profile.
  2. Enter the basic information about the application (Application name, version, description, categories, custom tags, image for logo,  global parameters for the application, if any). See Topology Modeler for additional context.
  3. In the Topology Builder, select one of the following Services options:
    • OS Service: Using Node Initializing scripts and Deployment Packages, any custom tier than can be launched over a base OS. The following screenshot shows an example.
    • Custom Service: The General Settings in the Properties pane displays the list of base images available for your selection, as shown in the following screenshot.
  4. Configure the advanced options, if required. See Topology Modeler properties and Node Initialization for additional context. The following screenshot shows an example.
  5. Click Save as App to complete the onboarding process. The new application is then displayed in the Application Profiles list page.

When you deploy the application the CCM send the application details and system requirements to the CCO. The CCO determines if the custom images need to be bootstrapped to make the images CloudCenter ready. Once the CCO starts the VM on the cloud, it injects the required bundles to make the VM ready to run the required service. See Dynamically Bootstrapping for additional context.
