The CloudCenter Dashboard

Overview

The CloudCenter Dashboard is the home page for the CloudCenter Manager (CCM) UI.

The CCM UI provides high-level, summary details that take the form of dashlets. The dashlet provides CCM UI location links for additional information.

The Summary Dashlet

The Summary dashlet displays information based on:

  • Compute Cost spending

  • Run Time spending in hours

  • Quantity of Running VMs

The listed items are displayed in the summary list.

You can click the link below the information to access the associated report.

The following are the dashlet view options:

  • View information:
    • View by Cloud (default)
    • View by Application
    • Includes Imported VM information (see VM Management for additional context)
    • The flow allows you to track data that is updated hourly over the last 30 days with fine-tuned resource details.
  • Summary of data hierarchy:
    • All Tenants (default, first four resources), as shown in the following screenshot
    • My Tenant by cloud, as shown in the following screenshot

      My Tenant by application, as shown in the following screenshot
    • My Data by cloud (only available for CloudCenter Deployed VMs, not Imported VMs), as shown in the following screenshot

      My Data by application, as shown in the following screenshot
    • Sub-Tenant 1
    • Sub-Tenant 2, etc.

The data provided in the Dashboard depends on the Permission Control for each user. For example, standard users only see the same My Data details for both, View by Cloud and View by Application

My Plan Usage

The My Plan Usage section displays the user's plan as configured by the tenant administrator. The following screenshot shows this section.

Cloud Status

The CloudCenter dashboard lists the Health Status for each cloud in your CloudCenter deployment. The following screenshot shows and example.

 

All configured clouds are displayed.

Cloud Health Status

The cloud health status displays on the CCM UI dashboard based both on cloud heath and CCO health:

If the Health Check Manager is shut down, the status is displayed as UNKNOWN.

The following table shows an example of the CloudCenter platform's status information.

Cloud Checking is disabled by default. If enabled, the monitor performs operations such as Create Volume, Start and Stop VMs and other operations. To enable cloud checks, change the test_cloud field for the corresponding record to true in the CLOUD_TYPES table for the monitor server and then restart the server.

My Recent Deployments

The following screenshot shows an example of the display of recent deployments.

This section displays the five most recent deployments launched from the logged-in user's CloudCenter instance. Click the View More Deployments link to go directly to the Deployment (Job) Details page and to view the list of all launched deployments.

Favorite Deployments

Your (logged-in user's) favorite deployments are listed on the dashboard under Favorite Deployments.

Click the star icon next to a deployment to remove it from the Favorite Deployments list. The following screenshot shows star icons next to deployments.

Notifications

The following screenshot shows an example of notifications from CloudCenter.

Any time the CloudCenter platform configuration changes, you may also receive a corresponding notification. In each case, the notification is displayed in the Notifications section of the dashboard.

For example, Projects and Phases – each time a deployment is promoted or demoted.

Click the View More Notifications link to view the Activity Stream page which displays the notification list for the subject CloudCenter instance.

Disabling Google Charts for CloudCenter 4.8.2x

The CloudCenter platform uses Google Charts to display the VM usage over time on the Dashboard page. While some customers need to see these charts on a daily basis, other customers may need to address restricted internet connectivity and may need to keep your VMs at that same level of restriction and may not want to download the Google Chart JS from Google.com. If you do not download this application, your end users may see a JS error or even experience a frozen browser situation. To avoid this scenario, you can disable the use of Google Charts.

To disable the loading of Google Charts, follow this process:

  1. Access your CCM server.
  2. Edit the /opt/cloudcenter/default/config.js file.

  3. Set the following variable to false (default = true).

    var loadGoogleCharts = false
  4. Save and exit the file.

You have now disabled Google charts from loading when you launch the CCM UI.

Google Charts Replacement for CloudCenter 4.9.0

Effective CloudCenter 4.9.0, the CloudCenter platform has removed its dependency on Google Charts to display the VM usage over time on the Dashboard page as this application requires internet connection to function and does not work in offline mode. Along with this change, the CloudCenter platform loads the Dashboard even in offline mode and has additional tool tips to identify the Usage Limit and Actual Use data as displayed in the following example screenshots.
